Yesterday it occurred to me how many cars (especially obscure European cars) ‘coincidentally’ resembled larger models from other companies. I’ve compiled five here; feel free to add your own in the comments!
1. DKW 1000SP -> Ford Thunderbird
2. Triumph GT6 -> Jaguar E-Type
3. Toyota Celica Liftback -> Ford Torino GT
4. Moretti Sportiva -> Fiat Dino Spider
5. Berkeley B90 -> AC Ace

Holy fuck I saw a Berkeley the other day! Didn't know what it was, which is rare for me. I assumed it was a ginetta

Singer Chamois (Hillman Imp), Corvair. Most egregious in the twin-headlight Chamois.
On the back, they rotated the lights, so it’s not quite so obvious, but considering that a lot of research into the mechanical design of the Imp was done with a Corvair on hand, the resemblance can’t be coincidence. Several other Euro rear-engine babies also have the look, but this is the obvious one.

Yep, that’s another from the Corvair Clone List I was thinking of.

I’ll also add the Isuzu Impulse RS. Not only does it look like a baby R34 GTR, it’s AWD and Turbocharged too.

Those are pretty rare. Well spotted. Was it three or four wheeled version? My dad’s friend has one really similar to the one above. Even the color is the same.

Those Berkelys are crazy. I saw one at a microcar show a few weeks ago. So tiny.

I live a couple miles from the Lane Motor Museum where they have one. It’s the only sports car I’ve seen that makes my Fiat 850 Spider look...normal.
